NOTES: Fighting Hawks to Host Jackrabbits Thursday

| By:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota men's basketball team will host South Dakota State this Thursday, in a game that will carry heavy implications on the Summit League regular season title race. The Fighting Hawks will need to win to keep hope alive for a regular season title, while the Jackrabbits can clinch the title with a win.

Earlier this season, the Fighting Hawks fell 80-61 in Brookings. UND is looking to snap a 16 game losing skid in the series.

Against North Dakota State on Saturday, NoDak battled back-and-forth with the Bison but ultimately the Bison prevailed as the teams split the season series.

Scouting the Opponent

The Jackrabbits are led by head coach Eric Henderson, who is in his fifth season as the team's head coach. His record leading the program is 104-47.

Zeke Mayo ranks fourth in the conference in points/game with 20.9, assists/game with 3.9 and minutes per game with 37.4. He leads the league with 34 threes in SL games. William Kyle III is second on the team with 14.7 points/game and fifth with 7.3 rebounds/game while leading the conference with 2.2 blocks per game. Charlie Easley leads the SL with 2.0 steals/game.

Living Downtown

Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.

North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 186 games played.
