PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team made it five wins in its last seven matches on Thursday morning with a 7-0 triumph over Prairie View A&M from the PVAMU Tennis Complex in Prairie View, Texas.
North Dakota once again flexed its muscles in doubles play, grabbing two wins on the No. 2 and 3 courts to take a 1-0 lead. The bottom pairing of
Aziza Aubin and
Lucia Rizza started it off with a 6-0 shutout before
Jule Schulte and
Nore Heinitz clinched the 1-0 start for the visitors with a 6-4 victory at the middle position.
Aubin and Rizza kept it rolling in singles play, building on the NoDak lead with Aubin notching a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at the No. 6 spot and Rizza posting a 6-3, 7-5 win from the fifth position. Heinitz went back-to-back with 6-2 scores on the No. 4 court while
Andrea Jansson added another singles win for the green and white at the No. 2 court by a 6-3, 6-4 score.
Schulte fought for a three-set victory from the third position at 7-6, 3-6, 10-6 before
Sapir Sela polished off the 7-0 triumph for the Fighting Hawks from the top spot with a 6-3, 1-6, 2-1 victory.
North Dakota closes out its trip through Texas with a showdown against UTRGV on Friday beginning at noon.
