Box Score GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to Drake on Saturday afternoon in the league opener from Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D.
Doubles were tightly contested, with Drake nabbing a 1-0 lead by a pair of tight wins on the No. 1 and 3 courts. The duo of
Leandro Zgraggen and
Jerall Yasin were locked in a 5-5 battle on the No. 2 court when play was halted.
The Bulldogs were able to claim the overall match victory with three straight triumphs in singles action, but NoDak made life tough on the visitors with some tight matches.
Ange-Kevin Koua got the Hawks on the board from the No. 2 position with a 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 win before
Ethan Terry continued his strong play as of late by rallying from a 6-3 loss in the opening frame to post 6-3 and 6-4 triumphs in the second and tiebreaker sets to earn a second point for UND at the fifth spot.
North Dakota returns to action next Friday night with a visit to Tulsa at 6 p.m.
