NOTES: Fighting Hawks Host In-State Rival Bison This Weekend

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota softball team will resume its Summit League schedule this weekend with a three-game set against in-state rival North Dakota State. Saturday will feature a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. and then a single game on Sunday, also starting at 1 p.m.

Earlier this week the Fighting Hawks picked up an 8-0 win against Minot State, as Jackie Albrecht threw five shutout innings and Katelyn Neumayer picked up three RBIs on three hits, Mariah Peters and Angie Dumlao also had multiple RBIs in the game.

Albrecht leads the Fighting Hawks staff with a 3.34 ERA, which is seventh best in the Summit League, and has a .239 batting average against—third lowest in the conference. With 95 strikeouts she ranks fourth in the Summit League, while Makaela Carr is tenth with 55.

Katie Joten remains at or near the top of the Summit League in multiple offensive categories: leading the conference with 13 stolen bases, 12 times hit by pitch and is second with 25 walks drawn. She leads the Fighting Hawks in on base percentage at .372 and tied with Taya Hopfauf with 18 runs scored.

Angie Dumlao leads UND with a .321 batting average in Summit League play, with nine hits, including a double; as well as two RBIs. Johanna Rodriguez is tied with Dumlao with 30 hits and is hitting .276 this season with a team high 14 RBIs, while Hopfauf and Izzy Haslett are tied for the team lead with five doubles.

Haslett is the lone player in the Summit League with multiple triples in conference play—hitting both over the weekend at St. Thomas. She is tied for second with Neumayer in total bases in SL games for the Fighting Hawks with eight, behind Dumlao's ten. Brooklyn Morris is hitting .286 in conference games, with a .353 on base percentage.

Defensively, Cassie Castaneda remains one of the top players in the country with 14 runners caught stealing, tied for third in the nation, and leads the Summit League. Neumayer is second in the conference in fielding percentage at .996 and Joten leads the SL with 96 assists.

About the Bison (16-28):

The Bison come into the game with a 3-6 record in Summit League play, sweeping St. Thomas but suffering sweeps at the hand of Omaha and South Dakota State.

Bella Dean leads the team in multiple offensive categories with 36 hits, seven doubles, seven homeruns and 66 total bases. Emilee Buringa is second to Joten with 12 stolen bases this season—a career best that brings her career total to 30. Reanna Rudd leads the team with a .278 batting average (among qualified players).

Savy Williams leads the team with a 3.20 ERA and has thrown five complete games in 14 starts this year. She has appeared in a team high 23 games and leads the team with 83 innings pitched and 44 strikeouts. Addie Bowers has thrown seven complete games in 12 starts with 42 strikeouts.
