MISSOULA, Mont. – North Dakota fell 4-0 at Montana on Thursday evening. The Grizzlies scored a pair of goals in both halves.
The Grizzlies (5-2-2) held a 2-0 lead at intermission. The first goal for Montana came in the fifth minute when Carly Whalen scored a goal off an assist from Riley O'Brien. UM increased its lead to 2-0 in the 36th minute when Kayla Rendon Bushmaker took a shot from the top of the box that found the back of the net. Montana added a pair of insurance goals in the 55th minute and 90th minute to secure the 4-0 win.
In the game, the Griz held the advantage in the statistical categories of shots (23-10), attempts on frame (10-5) and set pieces (3-2). UND (4-3-2) edged UM in saves, 6-5.
Jessica Machovec paced the Fighting Hawks with three shots on goal, while
Morgan Huff and
Irene Jirasevijinda had the only other shots on frame for NoDak.
North Dakota will travel to Cal State Northridge on Sunday. Kickoff on the pitch between the Fighting Hawks and Matadors is slated for 9 p.m. (CT). The game will be carried on ESPN+.
