WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- The University of North Dakota men's golf team concluded its second tournament of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday at the Zach Johnson Invitational, hosted by Drake, from Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa.
As a team, the Fighting Hawks shaved 26 shots off their total score from last week's competition to finish with an 882 (+30) and place 11th in the standings. Iowa State claimed the team crown as the only team to shoot under par with an 843 (-9) while Bradley's Connor Hamm won the individual title with a 200 (-13).
It was a career event for
Lucas Feterl, besting his previous career-low by one stroke to finish tied for ninth overall with a 213 (E) score. The senior notched his second top-10 finish of his career and set a new career-low score for a 54-hole event.
Grayson Wetch was second on the scorecard for the Fighting Hawks in the event, finishing tied for 45th with a 223 (+10) while
Nathan Peyerl sat just two shots back at 225 (+12) to tie for 59th on the leaderboard.
Freshman
Carson Skarperud made his collegiate debut in the lineup and sat even with fellow teammate
Kagan Kollar in a tie for 64th with a 226 (+13).
Joseph Kortan also put together a solid tournament as an individual player, sitting tied for 54th with a 224 (+11).
North Dakota will head to the Twin Cities for the Tommie Invitational beginning Sept. 30 from StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater, Minn.
