North Dakota plays to 2-2 draw at Oral Roberts

TULSA, Okla. – In a game in which North Dakota led 2-0 with just over three minutes remaining, Oral Roberts notched a 2-2 tie, scoring twice in the final three minutes.

After trailing 2-0 late, the Golden Eagles (5-5-2, 0-0-1 SL) found the back of the net in the 87th minute when Samantha Guzman scored off an assist from Julia Thasaphong. Oral Roberts earned a corner kick with just under two minutes to go and the Fighting Hawks (4-4-3, 0-0-1 SL) were whistled for a handball inside the box off the corner kick.

With just 1:11 left on the clock, Guzman aimed for the left corner of the net on the penalty kick and scored to knot the game up at 2-2.

Prior to the hectic final moments, North Dakota held a 2-0 lead. Amelia Loeffler scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute when Julia Briggs stole the ball at midfield and found the foot of Kaylie Fowler which dished an assist to Loeffler for the strike to make it 1-0 early. The Fighting Hawks led 1-0 at the break, despite being outshot in the first period by a 12-3 margin.

In the 80th minute, NoDak scored on its first attack of the second half to bring the tally to 2-0. Milan Cordone scored the goal from inside the box when she found the bottom left corner of the net off an assist from Briggs.

Despite allowing a pair of goals, Grace Miller was spectacular in goal, recording a season-best 11 saves in the contest. Oral Roberts attempted 27 shots in the game with 14 of them being on frame, while North Dakota had 10 scoring attempts and seven of them being shots on goal.

North Dakota will travel to Denver on Sunday. Kickoff between the Fighting Hawks and Pioneers is slated for 2 p.m. The game will be carried on the Summit League Network.

*With the result, North Dakota continues to lead the series 3-2-1. In games played in Tulsa, the teams are tied 1-1-1.
* Sofia Desirello led the Hawks with three shots (two on frame), trailed by Morgan Huff with two shots (both on goal) and Amelia Loeffler with two shots (one on frame).
