NOTES: No. 14/16 UND, No. 4/5 WMU battle for first place in NCHC standings

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – First place is on the line once again in the NCHC, as No. 14/16 North Dakota opens up a big series against No. 4/5 Western Michigan on Friday night at 7:07 p.m. from Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.
 
All UND men's hockey games, home and away, can be heard on stations across the Fighting Hawks Radio Network, as well as through the iHeart Radio app, with longtime broadcaster Tim Hennessy, who is in his 45th year on the mic for UND hockey, and Mike LaMoine calling the action. Friday's game can be heard on 96.1 FM (The Fox), the flagship station of North Dakota hockey. 
 
Friday's game can be seen on Midco Sports with Jody Norstedt and Jim Scanlan calling the action. Taylor Budge and Brett Hextall join the crew as the pregame, intermission and postgame hosts. Fans can also watch online through NCHC.tv with a subscription.

Friday will be the 44th all-time meeting between North Dakota and Western Michigan, with UND holding a 30-12-1 advantage in the series.
 
Last season, the teams only met twice in the penultimate weekend of the regular season, with UND notching a sweep and clinching the Penrose Cup in the weekend finale.
 
It has been a back-and-forth series between the two sides over the last few years, as the team who wins on Friday has gone unbeaten on Saturday in each of the last five series.
