Fighting Hawks close out March in Arizona

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- The University of North Dakota men's golf team closed out the month of March at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate, hosted by Minnesota, over pair of days from Wigwam Country Club in Litchfield Park, Ariz. 

As a team, the Fighting Hawks finished with a score of 902 (+38) to place 15th out of the 16 competing teams. 

Sophomore Kagan Kollar paced UND over the two-day, three-round tournament to place tied for 44th with a 221 (+5). The Maple Grove, Minn., native started strong with a 71 (-1) over his opening 18 holes thanks to a trio of birdies before closing out the event with a 74 (+2) and a 76 (+4), respectively. 

Joseph Kortan sat just three strokes behind his teammate to place tied for 61st with a 224 (+8), while matching his fellow sophomore with a 71 (-1) in the middle rounds to tie for the best round by a Fighting Hawk over the event. 

Nathan Peyerl shot a 228 (+12) to sit tied for 70th while Grayson Wetch (232, +16) and Lucas Feterl (233, +17) rounded out the scoring for NoDak to place 79th and 80th, respectively. 

North Dakota will head to the WIU Intercollegiate at TPC Deere Run beginning on Apr. 3.
