TEMPE, Ariz. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday morning, earning the 2024-25 ITA Division I Men's Central Regional Community Service Award for their excellence both on the court and in the community this past season.
UND is one of 13 men's programs to earn a regional award, with the Fighting Hawks capturing the honor for the nation's central region. Over the last academic year, the men's tennis team volunteered over 197 hours and created an economic impact over nearly $6,900 in the Greater Grand Forks community, including Grand Forks Public School District, Northlands Rescue Mission, SAAC Halloween Bash, SAAC Pen Pal Program, Special Olympics of North Dakota, United Way of Grand Forks/East Grand Forks and more.
The ITA Division I Men's Regional Awards include: ITA Coach of the Year, ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, ITA Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Most Improved Player, ITA Senior Player of the Year, ITA Player to Watch, and ITA Community Service Award.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at all levels – NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College.
