UND Returns Home for Three Matches this Weekend

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota volleyball team returns home for a trio of matches this weekend against UTSA on Thursday, Kent State on Friday and Idaho on Saturday. All games will be broadcasted on Midco Sports.

The Hawks come into this weekend with an 0-5 record, falling to West Virginia, Coppin State and Liberty this past weekend in Morgantown, W. Va.

Senior outside hitter Paige Barber was named to the All-Tournament team this past weekend at the West Virginia Invitational, posting 37 kills, 15 digs and seven total blocks across three matches. She logged a career high of 19 kills and five blocks against West Virginia, with her 19 kills being the most in a UND match since Oct. 28, 2021, when Lexi Ahrens had 25 kills against Western Illinois.

Barber leads the team with 62 kills on the season, with four double-digit outings. She is tied for seventh in the Summit League in total kills.

Scouting the Opponents
UTSA currently sits at 2-3 on the season, coming off a victory against Lindenwood last Saturday. The Roadrunners were picked to finish ninth in the American Athletic Conference, under head coach Carol Price Torok.

The Roadrunners have four players with 46 or more kills, led by Ally Tribe with 54. Taylor Gaines (47), Gigi Mason (47) and Caroline Treadwell (46), helping the quartet combine for 194 of the teams 252 kills this season.

Kent State comes in with a record of 2-4, predicted to finish 12th in the MAC Preseason poll. The Golden Flashes are led by Mackenzie McGuire, who has 108 kills on the year. They are coached by Haley Eckerman, who is in her fourth season with the team.

Idaho owns a 2-4 record and picked to finish 12th in the Big Sky Preseason poll. The Vandals are coached by Romana Redondo Kriskova, who is in her third season. Idaho is led by Cayton White offensively with 66 kills and Aleina Manaois with 139 assists.
