GRAND FORKS, N.D. - No. 16/17 North Dakota will host Valparaiso on Homecoming this Saturday. Kickoff between the Fighting Hawks and Beacons is slated for 3 p.m. The game will be televised on Midco Sports. It will also be carried on the Fighting Hawks Radio Network with a pregame show starting at 2 p.m.

North Dakota is 1-2 after falling 24-23 in the final moments at No. 5/7 Montana last weekend. The Grizzlies did not lead until the final 1:35 and scored the final 10 points of the game. Jerry Kaminski was 17-for-40 passing for 258 yards and a trio of scores, while surrendering one interception. B.J. Fleming was his favorite target and had five grabs for a career-high 138 yards and a touchdown, while Kaminski led the rushing attack with 85 yards on 12 carries. Antonio Bluiett led the secondary with two interceptions.

Valparaiso comes into the game with a 1-2 record after losing at Western Illinois, 51-30, last Saturday. The Beacons trailed 38-3 late in the third quarter before scoring 27 points in the final 18 minutes. Tyler Caron went 10-for-16 passing for 137 yards and a score and added a team-high 79 yards rushing. Rowan Keefe also appeared at quarterback and finished 5-for-10 for 54 yards. Chris Gundy was the top Valpo receiver and had five grabs for 85 yards and a score. Late in the final stanza, Ryan Ricketti had a 100-yard touchdown on a kick return.

This will be just the third meeting between the two teams and the series is tied, 1-1. The last time the two squads met in Grand Forks, UND ran away with a 69-10 victory inside the Alerus Center on Aug. 29, 2013. The series originated on Nov. 25, 1920, and Valparaiso won that game at home, 20-10. UND holds a 69-32-4 all-time record in games played during Homecoming week.
