OMAHA, Neb. -- Freshman Payton Stocker earned runner-up honors to lead the North Dakota women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Big O Classic on Tuesday at Omaha Country Club.

Playing through cooler, overcast conditions in the final round, the Fighting Hawks carded a 310 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 933 (310-313-310). UND finished five strokes behind runner-up Creighton, while host Omaha captured the team title at 911. The third-place showing gave North Dakota its fourth top-five finish in five tournaments this fall and its third top-three finish of the season.

Stocker continued an impressive start to her collegiate career by firing a final-round 75 to finish alone in second at 228 (77-76-75). The runner-up showing was her best finish of the fall and came nine strokes behind individual champion Eden Larson of Omaha.

The West Fargo, N.D., native was among the tournament's best on the par-5s, finishing second in the field with a 4.87 scoring average at 2-under. Her eight birdies were also the third-most in the tournament.

Gigi Lund saved her best round for Tuesday, carding a team-low 74 to climb into a tie for seventh at 233 (77-82-74). Lund played the par-5s at 1-under for the tournament and finished with six birdies.
