FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota women's soccer is set to face in-state rival North Dakota State for the second time this season, this time in Fargo, N.D., Saturday evening.
The Fighting Hawks beat the Bison in round one of the 2026 season, 4-0, on Sept. 24 to open Summit League play.
Cora Ellermann and
Charlie Basinet scored twice apiece, as goalkeeper
Thale Ruether had seven saves in the shutout. The victory acted as UND's first win to open conference action since 2019 and marked back-to-back wins for the Fighting Hawks over the Bison for the first time since winning three straight from 2001-03.
With the new Summit League pod format, this match signifies UND and NDSU facing each other multiple times on the pitch in a season for only the second time, as well as the first time during a fall season. Last time the Hawks and Bison faced each other twice came during the 2020 season, which was played in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UND and NDSU split the two-match series, with the Bison claiming the first match and the Hawks securing victory in game two.
With UND and NDSU currently sitting in the third and fourth slot of Pod A of the Summit League, and the Hawks holding a series advantage, Saturday's matchup is pivotal for how the final standings shake out regarding a Summit League Tournament berth for both teams.
