NOTES: Tennis Hits the Road, Kicks off Conference Competition

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – After two weekends spent on home turf, the North Dakota men's and women's tennis teams are hitting the road and heading south for a pair of weekend matches.
 
It all begins on Friday evening as the men open conference action against Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. in Tulsa. Action continues on Saturday when the women take on the Golden Eagles before concluding on Sunday when both the men and women face Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
 
Last Time Out
It was a 1-1 weekend for the men as they took on the Montana Grizzlies in back-to-back matches on Friday and Saturday. The Fighting Hawks first emerged victorious with a gritty 4-3 win that came down to the wire on home court before the opponent fought back for a 5-2 on Saturday to split the series.
 
The UND women went 2-0 in a dominating weekend at home, first taking down Creighton, 5-2, on Friday after taking the doubles point and four of six singles matches. The hot streak continued on Sunday with a clean 7-0 sweep of the Golden Eagles from Minnesota Crookston.

Preseason Rankings and Athletes to Watch
In the Preseason Summit League Coaches' Poll released on January 14, the North Dakota women were selected third with one first-place vote, while the Fighting Hawk men tied for fourth. The same release named Jule Schulte and Leo Galliano as Athletes to Watch in this Summit League this season.

The road trip continues for North Dakota, as the Fighting Hawks move from Oklahoma down to Louisiana for a pair of matches, taking on Nicholls State and New Orleans in mid-week action.
