GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Outdoor track and field competition slows down this week for North Dakota as the Fighting Hawks face a lone-meet week with action at the Gary Wilson Invitational on Wednesday, April 22.
Events kick off early at the University of Minnesota Track & Field Stadium as running events begin at 9:45 a.m. and field events follow with an 11 a.m. start time.

Ranking Roll Call
As of April 21, the UND women were ranked No. 11 in the Midwest Region and No. 64 in the nation—the highest ranking for a Summit League team—while the men held No. 23 in the Midwest Region and No. 132 nationally according to the USTFCCCA. It also places the women as second in the Summit League with the men in fifth.
North Dakota's women's 10,000-meter run squad of

Elle Sondag is making national headlines in dominating fashion as they currently rank No. 5 in the nation as an event squad.
Seven members of the women's Fighting Hawk track and field team rank in the Top 48 of the West Qualifying List, which would earn them bids to the NCAA West Prelims before the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Those currently in the Top 48 include:
Jadyn Keeler (10,000-meter Run – 4th; 5,000-meter Run – 9th),
Frida Giersdorff (3000-meter Steeplechase – 11th),
Shewaye Johnson (10,000-meter Run – 38th),
Naja Weiler (10,000-meter Run – 45th),
Cailey Moton (Hammer Throw – 34th),
Julia Matthews (Hammer Throw – 43rd), and
Ilaria Villa (Discus Throw – 46th).
On the men's side of the West Qualifying List, two men rank in the Top 48 in three total events.
Louis-Lys Fanucchi leads in 13th in the 1500-meter run and 16th in the 3000-meter steeplechase as
Henrik Lindstrot sits 34th in the steeplechase.
