BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Facing cold temperatures, steady rain and blustery winds throughout Monday's opening round, the North Dakota women's golf team battled through the elements to sit in second place after 18 holes at the Tracy Lane Memorial at Bemidji Town & Country Club.

The Fighting Hawks carded a team score of 322 and trail tournament leader Sioux Falls by just one stroke entering Tuesday's final round. North Dakota also placed all five golfers in its scoring lineup inside the top 10 on the individual leaderboard.

Leading the way for the Hawks was Gigi Lund, who sits atop the individual standings after firing a 5-over-par 77. Lund paced the field with four birdies on the day and also tied for the tournament's best par-4 scoring average at 4.40.

Annika Jyrkas is currently sixth after posting an 81, while Lindsey Astrup and Payton Stocker are tied for seventh at 82. Astrup was especially strong on the par-3s, tying for the best scoring average in the field at 3.00. Kate McComb rounded out the UND lineup with an 83 and is tied for 10th entering the final round.

North Dakota's consistency throughout a difficult weather day showed up across the statistical leaderboard. The Fighting Hawks lead the tournament in par-3 scoring average (3.35), par-4 scoring average (4.68) and par-5 scoring average (5.20).

The Hawks also received a notable performance from individual competitor Jaya Grube, who carded a career-best 79 to sit third among all individuals and just two strokes behind the tournament leader

The final round of the Tracy Lane Memorial is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. as North Dakota looks to erase a one-shot deficit and claim the team title.
