GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota football team will now open the 2027 season at Iowa after the two universities agreed to move the date of their game to Saturday, Aug. 28.
The shift in the match up with the Hawkeyes also results in the Fighting Hawks moving their contest at LIU from the opening week to Saturday, Sept. 18.
UND and Iowa last met on the gridiron nearly 100 years ago when the two teams met in Iowa City on Oct. 9, 1926. The Fighting Hawks defeated LIU in their 2026 home opener, 42-21, and will play the back half of a home-and-home series with the Sharks next year in New York.
UND also has a non-conference home game on its 2027 schedule vs. Idaho on Saturday, Sept. 11.
