GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota volleyball team welcomes Mercer to the Peace Garden State for its first home matches of the 2026 season.
The weekend will feature an unusual two-game weekend series between the Fighting Hawks and the Bears. The last time this happened was during the 2020 COVID season, played in the spring of 2021. The last one at home was against NDSU on Mar. 26 and 27. Other than the COVID year the last time this happened was back in the Division II days in 2005. The Hawks played Hawaii-Hilo on Sept. 2 and 3 at the Aspen Hotels Invitational Tournament hosted by Alaska-Anchorage.
The Fighting Hawks are looking for redemption against the Bears after falling, 3-1, in the teams' first ever meeting last season. Competing at the Mercer Invitational, the Georgia squad makes the trip to Grand Forks for this weekend's unusual two-game series.
The Fighting Hawks enter the weekend after a 1-2 performance at the Steve Nimocks Redhawks Invitational in Seattle last weekend. UND was swept on Friday but competed in a close five-set battle against host, Seattle U, on Saturday, eventually falling 3-2. UND bounced back on Friday, sweeping Chicago State, 3-0, with all available players making an appearance during the contest.
Both matches will be available on the Summit League Network, and Friday's match will be available locally on Midco Sports.
