2009: Started all 43 games at shortstop … Earned a spot on the All-Independent Academic Team … Set the UND single season record for assists with 147 and single-game record with 12 at Valparaiso (G2, April 10) … Batted a career-high .297 with a pair of home runs and a career-high 18 RBI … Also set career highs in hits (42) and runs (27) … Ranked third on the team with 14 multi-hit games and added five multi-RBI games … Swiped four bases to tie UND’s single-game record vs. Mary (G2, May 5) … Led the team with eight stolen bases on the season … Had a pair of three-hit contests and a trio of three-RBI games … Went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in 12-4 victory over Northern Iowa (G2, May 9) … Earned Great West Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the Northern Iowa series (5-for-12, two runs, three RBI) … Went 25-for-61 in his final 18 games to raise his batting average from .190 to .297 … He hit safely in 15 of those contests, including a personal best eight-game hitting streak.

2008: Appeared and started in 35 games for the Sioux at shortstop ... Had seven multiple-hit games and twice had three RBIs in a game ... Belted two home runs and had a total of eight extra-base hits during the campaign (five doubles and one triple) ... Finished the campaign with 12 RBIs.

2007: Appeared in six games for the Fighting Sioux ... Made collegiate debut on March 14, 2007 as a pinch-runner against Southwest Minnesota State ... Had one hit in four at-bats ... Tallied first collegiate hit against NCC opponent Nebraska-Omaha on April 29 ... Was named to the 2007 NCC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

2006: Redshirted.

Before UND: Earned two letters in baseball ... Served as team captain ... Named all-conference honorable mention.

Personal: A 2005 graduate of Eastview High School ... A member of the National Honor Society ... Son of Mike and Janet Nelson ... Double-major in marketing and management with a minor in communication.
