GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The UND volleyball team continued its winning ways as they travelled to Mankato to take on the fourth-ranked team in the North Central Region, Minnesota State. The Sioux won in decisive fashion as they took down Minnesota State in three games; 30-24, 30-27, and 30-23. The victory improves UND's record to 13-7 overall and 5-2 in the NCC. Minnesota State falls to 13-9 overall and 3-4 in the NCC. This win is UND's sixth straight victory. The last time UND volleyball had a six game winning streak was in October, 2003.
Leading the way for the Sioux was senior Aileen Cahill (Blue Earth, Minn.). Cahill finished the match with 16 kills and nine digs. Cahill's kill percentage was .462 for the match. Freshmen Britta Hanson (Thompson, N.D.) contributed nine kills to the Sioux offense and had an outstanding .562 kill percentage. As a team UND's kill percentage was .254 for the match.
On the defensive side of the net, the Sioux were paced by libero Lindsay Vortherms (So., Windom, Minn.). Vortherms led all players with 12 digs. Senior Heidi Evans (Roseau, Minn.) added seven digs as well. Defensively, Hanson had four block assists.
Allison Louwagie (So., Marshall, Minn.) completed the match with 42 set assists and also had seven digs as well. Louwagie also contributed four block assists in the contest.
