GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- UND volleyball defeated Minnesota State-Moorhead in three games tonight at Alex Nemzek Hall. UND won games one and three by the score 31-29 and game two by the score of 30-23. UND improves to 14-9 overall and 5-4 in the NCC. The Dragons fall to 14-11 overall and 9-7 in the NSIC. The Sioux now improve to 7-3 on the season against Northern Sun opponents.
Leading the way for the Sioux offense was junior Tara Holmen (Berthold, N.D.) with 19 kills and a .400 kill percentage. Fellow junior Kendyll Jones (Plymouth, Minn.) contributed 14 kills to the offense as well. Senior Aileen Cahill (Blue Earth, Minn.) had nine kills for the Sioux offense. Cahill is now four kills away from the coveted 1,000 kill mark.
Defensively the Sioux were led by sophomore libero Lindsay Vortherms (Windom, Minn.) with 16 digs. Seniors Heidi Evans (Roseau, Minn.) and Cahill contributed 13 and 11 digs, respectively.
Sophomore setter Allison Louwagie (Marshall, Minn.) ended the night with her eighth double-double of the year with 44 set assists and 14 digs.
