Emmanuel Little named NCC Player of the Week

GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota junior forward Emmanuel Little has been named North Central Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced earlier today by the conference office.

Little, a native of Chicago, Ill., enjoyed a near-perfect shooting performance as UND opened the NCC season with a 92-90 overtime loss to St. Cloud State and a 92-91 loss to sixth-ranked Minnesota State on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

In Thursday's loss to SCSU, Little went 8-for-8 from the field and finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Two nights later against MSU, Little scored a career-high and UND season-high 28 points in a 10-for-13 shooting effort.

For the week Little shot an astounding 85.7 percent (18-for-21) from the field and averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. He also shot 90.9 percent (10-for-11) from the free throw line.

In 17 games this season, including 15 starts, Little is tied for the team lead with 14.8 points per game and is averaging a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game.

Little is the first Fighting Sioux to earn NCC Player of the Week honors this season.

UND (8-9, 0-2 NCC) returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 13, at South Dakota (12-4, 1-0 NCC) and will look to snap a four-game losing skid.
