GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Fighting Sioux women's volleyball lost a five-game match to St. Cloud State. UND won two out of the first three games, but St. Cloud State finished the Sioux off by winning games four and five to seal the victory. With the loss, UND falls to 5-16 overall and 0-7 in the NCC. SCSU improves to 10-14 overall and 2-5 in the NCC.
North Dakota sophomore Amanda Polzin (Hutchinson, Minn.) recorded a career-high and match-high 24 kills in the contest. Polzin was one of four UND players to record double-figures in kills. Senior Tara Holmen (Berthold, N.D.) notched 21 kills, senior Mary Blume recorded 16 kills, and sophomore Britta Hanson (Thompson, N.D.) tallied 13 kills for UND. Sophomore setter Megan Langseth (Alexandria, Minn.) recorded her fourth double-double of the season. Langseth finished with 64 set assists and 23 digs. Langseth set a career-high with the 64 set assists.
UND had five players with 20 or more digs in the contest. Freshman Courtney Halvorson (Oklee, Minn.) finished with a career-high 27 digs to lead UND. Ashley Holmen (So., Berthold, N.D.), Briena Hawkins (So., Andover, Minn.), and Erin Joki (Fr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) each had 22 digs in the contest. SCSU libero Andreana Pieper had a match-high 37 digs in the contest.
UND hits the road to take on Minnesota Crookston in non-conference action on Tueday night at 7 p.m. The game will be played at Lysaker Gymnasium in Crookston, Minn.
