South Dakota knocks off volleyball in three

VERMILLION, S.D. -- South Dakota hit .475 as a team and had two players hit .700 or better in the contest. South Dakota's Laura Slagter finished with a match-high 14 kills and finished with an attack percentage of .778 (14k-0e-18Att.). UND falls to 5-19 overall and 0-8 in the NCC. South Dakota improves to 20-7 overall and 4-5 in the NCC.

UND was led on offense by the hitting duo of Britta Hanson (So., Thompson, N.D.) and Tara Holmen (Berthold, N.D.). Hanson and Holmen each tallied eight kills in the contest. As at team, UND finished with an attack percentage of .040 (29k-25e-101Att.). Setter Megan Langseth (So., Alexandria, Minn.) finished the match with 20 set assists.

Freshman Courtney Halvorson (Oklee, Minn.) led the UND defense with 10 digs. Fellow freshman Erin Joki (Grand Rapids, Minn.) totaled seven digs on the night.

It is the first time since 11/5/05 that South Dakota beat North Dakota. UND lost that match 3-1. UND was last swept by South Dakota on 11/6/04.

The eight-game losing streak is the longest for UND volleyball since 2004 when the Sioux lost nine straight games from 10/4/04-10/29/04.
