GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? Twelve Fighting Sioux soccer athletes were named to the North Central Conference Commissioner's Academic Soccer Honor Roll Tuesday afternoon.
 
Leading the way for the Fighting Sioux are juniors Erin Pederson (Grand Forks, N.D.), Sarah Thaden (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Lara Traczyk (Markham, Ont.). Pederson, an environmental geosciences major, is a goalkeeper for the Fighting Sioux. Thaden, a midfielder, is an English major. Traczyk, the 2007 Fighting Sioux team captain and member of the 2007 Academic All-NCC soccer team, is a biology major.
 
Nine sophomore student-athletes were also named to the honor roll. Lauren Herrmann (Eagan, Minn.) is a physics major and was also named NCC Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 27. Midfielder/forward Rose Horner (Bismarck, N.D) is majoring in history. Meagan Houlihan (Lincoln, Neb.), a defender for the Fighting Sioux, was also named to the 2007 Academic All-NCC soccer team, is an early childhood education major.
 
A pre-nursing major, Ericka Lund (Andover, Minn.) is a defender for the Fighting Sioux. Student-athlete Haley Oase, a native of Minot, N.D. is studying psychology while midfielder Holly Remmenga (Lincoln, Neb.) is a pre-athletic training major. Also included in the honor roll were goalkeeper Lauren Sera (Winnipeg, Man.), a pre-medicine major, midfielder Alyssa Strohbusch (Buffalo, Wyo.), a biology major and forward Megan Tracy (Bismarck, N.D.). Tracy was also named NCC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11.
 
This is the third year that the NCC has released the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. To qualify, the student-athletes must have a minimum of a 3.20 grade point average, have completed at least two semesters at their current school and have competed against outside competition. This year, 55 student-athletes in the NCC achieved the honor.
