GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Fighting Sioux volleyball team led 7-6 in the fifth game, and were eight points away from earning their first NCC victory of the season, but Nebraska-Omaha went on a six-point run to dash UND's hopes. Nebraska-Omaha would go on to win game five, 15-10. With the loss UND falls to 6-20 overall and 0-9 in the NCC. The Mavericks improve to 15-8 overall and 7-4 in the NCC.

Nebraska Omaha opened up the match with a convincing victory in game one, 30-16. UND fought back in game two and earned the 30-27 victory. The Mavericks would take the third game, 30-27. In game four, UND and UNO traded points, but UND overcame a two-point deficit to tie the game at 26-26. UND and UNO would trade points until UND scored the final two points to win 35-33.

Leading the way for the Sioux offense was sophomore Megan Langseth (Alexandria, Minn.). Langseth tallied her seventh double-double of the season by finishing with 59 set assists and 11 digs in the contest. Sophomore Amanda Polzin (Hutchinson, Minn.) finished with a game-high 21 kills in the contest. Polzin hit .333 in the match (21k-7e-42Att.). Britta Hanson (So., Thompson, N.D.) knocked down 18 kills for the UND offense.

UNO was led in kills by Kelly Goeser. Goeser had a team-high 18 kills in the match.

Defensively, the Sioux were led by freshman Courtney Halvorson (Oklee, Minn.). Halvorson finished with a career-high 30 digs in the match. UND had five players finish with at least 10 digs in the contest. Erin Joki (Fr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) tallied 19 digs, Briena Hawkins (Fr., Andover, Minn.) notched 13 digs, and Stephanie Mason (So., Excelsion, Minn.) had 12 digs in the game.

UND returns to action tomorrow afternoon against South Dakota. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and will be played at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
