GRAND FORKS, N.D.--For the second time this season, North Dakota senior guard Ervin Youmans has been named North Central Conference Co-Player of the Week, announced today by the league office.
Youmans shares the award with Nebraska-Omaha senior forward Denny Johnston.
Youmans, a native of Hobbs, N.M., shot 84.2 percent (16-for-19) from the field and averaged 21.5 points points in leading the Fighting Sioux to victories over Mary and Minot State last week, extending UND's winning streak to five games.
Youmans scored at least 20 points in each of the two wins while also averaging 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals. He also connected on 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) 3-pointers.
Through eight games this season, Youmans leads the NCC in scoring (18.4 ppg) and ranks second in free throw percentage (.905) and fourth in field goal percentage (.643) and 3-point field goal percentage (.588).
Youmans has scored 20 or more points in six of UND's eight games this season after scoring 20 points just once in 24 games in 2006-07.
UND, now 5-3 after opening the year with three straight losses, returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 11, against Upper Iowa.
