Lueck pitches UND to 9-5 victory over University of Charleston

FT. MYERS, FL -- The University of North Dakota won its third straight game with a 9-5 victory over the University of Charleston. Sophomore pitcher Mike Lueck pitched a complete game and finished with seven strikeouts and two walks. North Dakota improves to 3-1 and the University of Charleston falls to 5-11.

The North Dakota offense exploded for 16 hits and its third straight game with eight or more runs.

Leading the way for the Sioux offense was catcher Scott Schmidt. Schmidt went 2-3 at the plate with two doubles, a stolen base and two RBI's. Freshmen Anthony Brenner and Andrew Gudmunson each finished with two hits and two RBI's.

Seniors Mike Lundeen and Nate Meissner also rapped out two hits to keep the Sioux offense rolling. Lundeen added an RBI in the game.

Every single North Dakota batter finished with at least one hit in the game. It is the first time this season in which every starter had a hit.

North Dakota has Tuesday off and will return to action on Wednesday against Southwest Minnesota State in a doubleheader. Game one is set for 3 p.m. and game two will be played immediately following the first game. Both games will be played in Fort Myers, FL at Terry Park #3.
