ST. CLOUD, MINN. -- The Fighting Sioux baseball team lost to Augustana in the first round of the NCC Baseball Tournament by the score of 13-5. UND falls to 19-18 overall and Augustana improves to 15-22 overall.
Junior Sean Cooley pitched a complete-game, allowing two earned runs. Cooley struck out three and walked two in the contest. Cooley falls to 4-5 on the year. The Fighting Sioux defense committed seven errors in the field.
Augustana got on the board in the fourth inning when they scored seven runs, all of which were unearned. Augustana would score two more runs in the sixth and four more in the ninth.
UND scored in the fifth inning when senior Tim Burns hit a linedrive, two-run homerun to left field. The Sioux would add three more runs in the bottom of the ninth when freshman Andrew Gudmunson hit a two-run homerun to right-centerfield. Senior Mike Lundeen followed up Gudmunson's homer with a homerun to left field.
UND will play Friday at 1 p.m. UND's opponent has yet to be determined. The game will be at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud, Minn.
