GRAND FORKS, N.D.--The Fighting Sioux football team remains ranked No. 3 in the latest America Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll, released earlier today. UND defeated Humboldt State 59-0 last Thursday in the season opener at the Alerus Center and is idle this week.
The Fighting Sioux received one first-place vote and 636 total points in this week's poll.
Defending national champion Grand Valley State remains atop the AFCA poll and will open the season this weekend. Northwest Missouri State maintained its No. 2 ranking despite having its season opener against Arkansas Tech suspended due to inclement weather. The Bearcats led Arkansas Tech 21-0 before the game was halted and a final decision is still pending.
The fourth and fifth-ranked teams in the AFCA poll, North Alabama and Chadron State, respectively, also held on to their preseason rankings.
