GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota assistant football coach Eric Schmidt has announced his resignation, effective last Friday, Jan. 4.

Schmidt, a Mandan, N.D., native, was hired at UND prior to the 2006 season, serving as both the team's director of football operations and outside linebackers coach. He played football at UND from 1998 to 2001 and received his bachelor's degree from UND in 2002.
