Rod Carey added to UND football staff as offensive line coach

GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota head football coach Chris Mussman announced today the hiring of Rod Carey as the team's offensive line coach. Carey's appointment begins immediately.

Carey most recently spent the past two seasons as the offensive line coach at Illinois State University, a Division I-Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) program. He helped guide the Redbirds to a 13-11 record in his two seasons at ISU.

“I am extremely pleased to have Rod join our staff,” said Mussman. “He brings with him a passion and understanding of life in the trenches, having had success as both a player and coach. I believe Rod will help to continue the proud tradition of offensive line play for Fighting Sioux football.”

Prior to his stint at Illinois State, Carey was a member of the coaching staff at the University of Wisconsin-Stout from 2000-06, where served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He also spent time as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Minnesota in 1998 and 1999.

A 1993 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor of arts degree, Carey was a three-year starter at center for the Hoosiers from 1989 to 1993, serving as a team captain and earning the team's Corby Davis Outstanding Offensive Player award as a senior.
