DULUTH, Minn.--The 2008 North Central Conference Softball Tournament has been delayed one day due to poor weather conditions in the Duluth area and will now take place on Saturday and Sunday, when more favorable conditions are expected.
"We have made every effort to make sure that the participants in the championship have the best experience possible," said NCC Commissioner Roger Thomas. "This spring has been filled with difficult weather situations and this weekend is no exception. It was not feasible to move the tournament to a different site and we feel that moving the dates of the tournament will give us the best opportunity to get all the games in while giving the student-athletes another day in class at this important time of the year."
North Dakota (19-32) is scheduled to face No. 2 seed Nebraska-Omaha at 10 a.m. at the Wheeler Athletic Complex in Duluth. The 2008 NCC Softball Tournament champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Softball North Central Regional.
An updated bracket will be posted once it has been made available.
