Five Fighting Hawks named CSC Academic All-District

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota softball's Jackie Albrecht, Makaela Carr, Katie Joten, Camryn Lasota, and Taya Hopfauf have been named to Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators, as announced by the organization. Each of the recipients earned 4.0 GPAs during the 2025 winter semester. Hopfauf and Lasota each earned a spot on the All-Summit Academic Team.
 
Albrecht, the pitcher majoring in commercial aviation, recorded an impressive 4.0 semester GPA and a cumulative GPA of 3.86. The senior also made the 2025 winter Dean's List.
A native of Barrington, Illinois, Albrecht became just the fourth pitcher in program history with 400 career strikeouts as a seven-K effort on Senior Day moved her into second all-time on the Fighting Hawks' DI career strikeout list. A 2024 All-Summit League second team pitcher and a 2025 preseason player to watch, Albrecht earned three victories, registered one save and went the distance six times for UND in 2025. She enters postseason play with 88 strikeouts, 35 of which came against Summit League opposition, and carries a staff-low opponents' batting average of .222 which dipped to .215 in league play.

Additionally, Albrecht has four hits and seven RBI at the plate this season and holds the single-game season-best RBI mark with five which included her first career home run in UND's win over New Mexico.
 
Carr, the left-handed pitcher majoring in communications, also recorded a 4.0 semester GPA, boosting her to a 3.652 cumulative GPA. Carr is also a member of UND's Hawkcademy. The senior made the 2025 winter Dean's list.
A native of Smithville, Missouri, Carr became the first Fighting Hawk to earn two weekly honors from the Summit League in the same season as she was twice named the league's Peak Pitcher of the Week. In 2025, the lefthander ranks second in the country in saves with nine (DI single-season program record) and has also earned nine victories. In 93.0 innings pitched, she leads UND in strikeouts (99) and innings pitched and holds starter-best marks in ERA (3.16), WHIP (1.30), wins and saves. Her 4.30 K-to-BB ratio is a top 30 mark nationally and the second highest among Summit League arms.

In 30 appearances with a dozen starts, Carr has gone the distance five times and has recorded five or more Ks in an outing nine times, including four appearances with seven or more strikeouts to go along with a season-high nine against Northern Iowa. Carr won three times in league action in addition to earning a pair of saves, while ranking second on the team in strikeouts with 29 in a team-high nine league appearances.
 
Joten, the shortstop majoring in biology, recorded a 4.0 semester GPA giving her a 3.797 cumulative GPA.
A native of Little Chute, Wisconsin, Joten leads the Fighting Hawks in runs scored (34), walks (26), hit-by-pitch (11) and on-base percentage (.434) and ranks second in hits (48). Joten has over 100 hits in her career as a Fighting Hawk with her 100th coming in UND's game three win over NDSU. A knack for getting on base, Joten is in the midst of her third-straight season with 30 or more combined walks and hit-by-pitch, and she is currently the only player in the league ranked in the top five in both categories. She is just the second player in program history with 85+ career walks. A 2023 All-Summit League performer, Joten has recorded 13 multi-hit games this season with a pair of multi-RBI performances. As UND's everyday shortstop, she leads the Summit League in assists (118), ranks third in putouts (82) and has been a part of two dozen double plays turned by the Fighting Hawks' defense. Joten's total assists ranked inside the top 30 among all Division I fielders.
 
Lasota, the right-handed pitcher majoring in forensic science, recorded a semester GPA of 4.0 maintaining her 4.0 cumulative GPA. The junior earned a spot on the 2025 winter President's Honor Roll.
A native of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Lasota's plate presence has packed a powerful punch for North Dakota this season. She is the first Fighting Hawk since 2017 to hit eight home runs in a single season, and she leads UND in slugging percentage (.579) and OPS (.955). In 45 games, Lasota has recorded 31 hits with 29 RBI and 17 runs scored. Her 13 extra base hits are the third-most on the team, while her nine multi-RBI games pace the offense. In 18 starts against league foes, Lasota recorded a dozen hits, including five for extra bases, with nine RBI and four runs scored.

Lasota saw action in the circle early in the '25 campaign earning a win for UND against Northern Iowa after tossing a season-high four innings with three strikeouts. In all, Lasota has pitched in seven games totaling 12.1 innings with a win and a save. As a fielder, Lasota has recorded 43 putouts with three assists.
 
Hopfauf, the catcher majoring in communication science and disorders, recorded a 4.0 semester GPA to keep her cumulative GPA at 4.0. The junior was recognized on both the President's Honor Roll and the Dean's list.
A native of Dickinson, N.D., Hopfauf served as a steady presence behind the plate in her junior campaign, starting in 54 games for the Fighting Hawks. Hopfauf posted a .273 batting average with 38 hits, 24 RBIs and 32 runs scored, while tallying 13 doubles, one triple and three home runs. She recorded six multi-RBI games and 10 multi-hit performances, including a season-best three-hit outing at Wofford. Defensively, she registered a .984 fielding percentage with 263 putouts and 39 assists.
