Basketball heads to South Dakota for rematch

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- At this week's media press conference the University of North Dakota men's basketball team talked about its return trip to South Dakota on Saturday. The Coyotes defeated the Fighting Sioux last Saturday in Grand Forks, and they've left an unpleasant taste in UND's mouth.

Senior guard Darius Joseph and head coach Brian Jones stressed the need to get rebounds and make shots against South Dakota.

"I'm sure how many offensive rebounds they had, close to 20," Joseph said. "We have to get that fixed immediately."

The Fighting Sioux also need a strong start, Jones said.

"They put us away in the first 10 minutes (of last Saturday's) game," Jones said. "They got up 13 and from then on we were fighting and clawing, trying to get back into the game."

UND and South Dakota play a doubleheader of men's and women's action in Vermillion, S.D. The women's game starts at 1 p.m. and the men's game is slated for 3 p.m.

UND women's head coach Gene Roebuck and the Fighting Sioux were not back into town after playing at Ball State on Tuesday night, so they missed the weekly press conference.
