BRONX, N.Y.-University of North Dakota senior Brittany Brenny placed second today at the 2009 Great West Conference Women's Cross Country Championship at Van Cortland Park, earning all-conference first-team honors for the second straight year.
Brenny, who placed fourth at the conference meet a year ago, ran today's course in a time of 22:30.99.
Teammate Katherine Enabnit (So., Carmichael, Calif.) joined Brenny on the all-conference squad, earning second-team honors after placing 10th with a time of 23:41.78.
Brenny, Enabnit and the Sioux finished third in the eight-team standings with 89 points.
Utah Valley won the meet with 21 points , placing all five runners in the top seven. UVU's Mary Nothum took medalist honors with a time of 22:16.49 and was named GWC Female Athlete of the Year.
UVU head coach Scott Houle was named Great West Conference Coach of the Year on both the women's and men's side.
Brooke Hodson of UVU was named female newcomer of the year.
Women's first team all-conference accolades were bestowed upon Nothum, Brenny, Bentley, Walker, Eisenhauer, Fitzsimmons and Hodson. Second team recipients were UVU's Krystal Harper (23:24.89) and Angela Baker (23:39.44), UND's Katherine Enabnit (23:41.78), USD's Sigornie Pfefferle (23:45.82), UTPA's Judith Chumba (23:47.61), HBU's Raquel Tidwell (23:54.63) and UVU's Stephanie Christensen (24:02.69 ).
