Sadler collects Great West Conference Hitter of the Week honor

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota catcher Andrew Sadler (Grand Forks, N.D.) was named the Great West Conference Hitter of the Week by league officials on Monday. The sophomore went a combined 6-for-12 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and five runs scored in helping lead the Fighting Sioux to their first Division I series win at Southern Illinois over the weekend.

In Friday's series-opening win, Sadler went 4-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the Sioux to an 8-7 victory over the Salukis. Sadler also had a sacrifice fly and his career-high four hits exceeded his season total entering the series (3-for-27, .143).

"This is our first weekly honor as a Division I program and it is just a testament to how hard these kids are working to prove they belong at this level," UND head coach Jeff Dodson said. "Andy had a great weekend for us and a big 4-for-4 night against SIU in the opening game. He also did a great job catching for us behind the plate all three games."

Sadler increased his season average 130 points after his big weekend at the plate, raising it to .273. The Fighting Sioux continue a five-game road trip on Tuesday with a contest at Saint Louis. UND and the Billikens will play a pair of mid-week games.
