DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The University of North Dakota tennis team suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Bethune-Cookman College today in Daytona Beach, concluding UND's Florida spring trip.

The loss, UND's fifth in a row in Florida, dropped the Fighting Sioux to 9-7 on the season.

“We played our best match of the (spring) break,” said UND head coach Tom Wynne, “and actually had match-point to win the dual but let it slip away.

“Hopefully when we get in that position again, we will know how to capitalize.”

Seniors Emily Callison (Mesa, Ariz.) and Katie Wessman (Fargo, N.D.) and junior Molly Maurer (Hutchinson, Minn.) earned singles victories as the two teams split the singles flights. Callison's win came at No. 1 singles, while Maurer and Wessman were victorious in the No. 4 and 5 slots, respectively.

Maurer and freshman Tiffany Reisenauer (Dickinson, N.D.) combined for a victory in No. 3 doubles, getting past BCC's Valecia Kendrick and Jeneice Ward by an 8-6 score.

UND is now idle until facing former North Central Conference foe South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., on April 3.
