Volume 8: Friday, Jan. 8
Hello everyone!
The team was lucky enough to be able to go to New Orleans after Christmas and what an experience that was! We got a day off to just wander around and check things out. We all went to the French Quarter and checked out Bourbon Street. We ate at a place called The Red Fish Grill and it was some of the best food I have ever had. Of course we all tried oysters; Alys didn't mind them, but the rest of us were not big fans.
We got back on the 31st, played Toledo on the 2nd, and tried to leave the 3rd for Michigan at six in the morning. I emphasize tried because when we got out to the Grand Forks Airport, we were told it was too cold to fly out. Only in North Dakota is it too cold to fly a plane!
The plan was then to bus to Fargo and fly out from there ... little did we know that the bus we took had no heat. We could see our breath throughout the drive, it was so cold. At one point, Alys, Kayla, and I were all huddled onto one small seat trying to get warm.
Coach Brewster spilled his coffee on the floor of the bus and it froze! Needless to say it was a bit drafty driving to Fargo, but we got to the airport, got some hot breakfast in us and all was cured.
I almost forgot, Happy New Year everyone! A new year means a new start, a new beginning for our team. We have been improving every game and we are definitely coming together to fight through the losses.
I have a lot of respect for my teammates because no matter what is thrown at them, they all refuse to quit. I am very proud of this team and I know all this hard work and perseverance is going to pay off.
Hope to see you at the game this Friday when we take on Seattle. Thanks for reading!
