GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota basketball teams are ready to start the 2010-11 season, the Fighting Sioux coaches said today at the weekly media day.
The UND men's team hosts Waldorf on Friday at 7 p.m. The Fighting Sioux are leaner, faster and ready to run a more up-tempo offense this season, junior Patrick Mitchell said. Head coach Brian Jones said the Sioux are young and face a challenging schedule, but are up for the competition.
UND women's basketball coach Gene Roebuck said his team improved in the two exhibition games the Fighting Sioux have already played. With Division I teams New Mexico State, a 2010 WNIT team, and Vermont, which went to the NCAA Second Round last season, coming to the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center this week, the next challenge awaits. UND hosts NMSU on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Vermont on Monday at 7 p.m.
