DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Despite singles victories from senior Katie Callison and freshmen Erin Kappers, the Fighting Sioux tennis team was defeated 5-2 by Bethune-Cookman University yesterday evening.

Callison, a native of Mesa, Ariz., was victorious in No. 1 singles, in a nailbiter against Katarina Szaboova 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Kappers, a native of Rochester, Minn., earned a win in No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Shereen Peterson-Paul.

Erin Kappers and Hallie Welk were UND's lone doubles victory, defeating Katarina Szaboova and Andrea Paez 8-5.

North Dakota, 5-9 on the season, now prepares for Hartford in Orlando, Fla., to conclude its spring trip.
