Nelson garners CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII first team honors

Grand Forks, N.D. – Senior Josh Nelson (Apple Valley, Minn.) was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII first team on Thursday, as announced by members of the Academic All-America® Committee.

Nelson, who was an All-Independent Academic honoree a season ago as a junior, will graduate with a degree in marketing this semester and will now be eligible for Academic All-America® honors.

“Josh has worked hard and really played well for us on the field this season,” UND head coach Jeff Dodson said. “He is also a tremendous student and we are excited to see him earn this award.”

Through 37 games this season, Nelson is leading the Fighting Sioux in batting average with a .340 clip and has hit safely in 16 of his last 18 games. In Great West play, Nelson is batting a team-high .383 and set a new career-high with four RBI in a win over Northern Colorado last Saturday.
