Flood Relief Bowl 2011 set for Saturday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – With just under a month left in their special fundraiser to assist flood victims statewide, the University of North Dakota Athletics Department officials are proud to announce that more than 1,200 'We are one, We are North Dakota' flood relief t-shirts have been sold.

Based on those sales totals, more than $21,600 has been raised for the American Red Cross to provide assistance for flood victims in the state of North Dakota.

In conjunction with the fundraiser, UND's home football game on Saturday against Montana Western has been dubbed the 'Flood Relief Bowl 2011'. Football fans that wear their flood relief t-shirts to the game will receive a 2-for-1 single game discount on any tickets purchased.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Alerus Center and the ticket office opens at 10 a.m.

Members of the UND Student Government Association will be selling the special t-shirts in the parking lot and inside gate one at the Alerus Center before Saturday's kickoff.

The project is a partnership between manufacturer and designer CI Sport of Fargo and retailers Scheels, the Sioux Shop at Ralph Engelstad Arena and the UND Bookstore.  Shirts can also be purchased online at www.FightingSioux.com.

Ninety percent of the retail sale price of $20 per shirt goes directly to the American Red Cross.

'We are one, We are North Dakota' flood relief t-shirts will be sold until the end of October.
