GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Another first in what turned out to be a season full of them for the North Dakota football team happened on Monday as the Fighting Sioux found themselves ranked in the top 25 in both of the final FCS regular season polls.
Following their dramatic 38-37 victory over South Dakota on Saturday, voters moved the Sioux back into the SportsNetwork/Fathead.com poll at No. 22, while the coaches elevated the team to No. 21 in their latest poll.
It was the 10th straight week the coaches had UND in the poll run by the Southern Conference. The Sioux made their debut in the poll at No. 21 on Sept. 19 (week three) and climbed as high as No. 18 in the Oct. 10 poll (week six). That was also the first week UND was ranked in the TSN/Fathead.com poll, coming in at No. 20. They remained in those rankings for one more week at No. 23 (week seven, Oct. 17) before returning this week after a four-week absence.
Also on Monday, senior
Brent Goska (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) garnered one more weekly accolade as College Football Performance Awards tabbed him as an honorable mention quarterback performer.
