NAPERVILLE, Ill. - North Dakota senior Patrick Mitchell (Des Moines, Iowa) earned the first Great West Conference Player of the Week honor of his career following his efforts in a pair of games last week. The award was announced Monday by league officials.

Mitchell averaged 18.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest as the Fighting Sioux split their two games last week.

The forward scored a season-high 21 points and added a season-high four blocks in a 74-66 victory over Jamestown on Wednesday. On the road at Idaho State on Saturday, Mitchell scored 15 points and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds.

He connected on a season-high four 3-pointers in the 76-63 setback to the Bengals, finishing the week with seven makes from beyond the arc while shooting 41 percent. Mitchell also continued his stellar defensive play and is now seven blocks away from being second all-time at UND in that category.

Mitchell and the Fighting Sioux return to action on Wednesday at UMKC (7 p.m.).
