Grand Forks, N.D. - In a rematch from Saturday night's game in Edinburg, the University of North Dakota men's basketball team will face Texas-Pan American in the quarterfinals of the Great West Conference Tournament on Thursday night in Orem, Utah. The third-seeded Sioux play the sixth-seeded Broncs at 6 p.m. CT.
UND (16-14, 8-4 GWC), who guaranteed a winning season with the victory over the Broncs, swept the season series from Texas-Pan American (6-24, 2-10 GWC), winning 91-82 in Grand Forks in late January and finishing its regular season with a 72-61 triumph in Edinburg on Saturday.
If the Sioux defeat the Broncs, they will face the winner of the No. 2 NJIT/No. 7 Houston Baptist game Friday at 6 p.m.
Utah Valley is the No. 1 seed and the host for the tournament and faces the winner of No. 5 Chicago State and No. 4 South Dakota on Friday.
The Sioux were the No. 3 seed at last year's inaugural tournament as well.
