Grand Forks, N.D. - The University of North Dakota athletics department is saddened by the passing of former Sioux football player Jay Gustafson, who died on April 6. 

Gustafson played quarterback for the Fighting Sioux from 1971-73 and helped lead UND to the 1972 Division II West College Championship. He is a member of the UND Athletics Hall of Fame and was one of five former Sioux signal callers to be named to the All-Century football team, which was chosen in conjunction with the team's "Centennial Celebration" in 1994.

The Fighting Sioux family would like to extended its deepest sympathies to Gustafson's family and friends.
