GREEN BAY, Wis. - Senior outside hitter Devin Trefz's tallied her first double-double of the season to lead North Dakota (1-1) to a 3-2 victory over Green Bay (1-1) in the fourth match of the Green Bay/Country Inn and Suites Tournament.
The Bagley, Minn., native landed 10 kills on 30 swings and added 10 digs.
UND squeaked past the Phoenix 25-23 in the initial set and then powered to a 25-17 victory in set two to take a 2-0 lead. Green Bay held off the sweep with a 25-11 win in the third set and then knotted the match at 2-2 with a 25-19 victory in set four.
"We took an early 2-0 lead, but Green Bay battled back and did a nice job on their home court," head coach Ashley Hardee said. "As a very experienced group, they were able to fight back and really challenge us."
In the fifth and final set, sophomore middle back Ronni Munkeby (Lisbon, Minn.) led UND to a 15-8 victory with three kills on four swings. She finished the match with 12 kills, a pair of digs and a block assist.
"Ronni played fantastic for us today and really came through when we needed a lift on the right side," Hardee said. "Lisa Parlich also came out and gave us yet another great performance."
A sophomore from Delavan, Wis., Parlich (MB) led the team with 14 kills and three blocks. She was key in UND's first two wins combining for 11 kills on 13 swings.
Redshirt freshman Nikki Husfeldt (Andover, Minn.) finished the match with 42 assists and sophomore libero Erica Turner (Andover, Minn.) recorded a team-high 18 digs.
"It's a good win for us," Hardee said. "We beat Green Bay on their home court and at their tournament, but we aren't done. We still have to take care of a great James Madison team."
