Miller racks up second straight GWC weekly honor

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second straight week, UND sophomore running back Jake Miller (Bismarck, N.D.) earned Great West Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

He established another career high in rushing yards, piling up 181 yards on 22 carries with a pair of rushing touchdowns (19, 5) in the Fighting Sioux 53-19 win over Black Hills State.

Miller actually had his career high by halftime after rushing 14 times for 156 yards and his two scores in the opening 30 minutes. He scored on a 19-yard run and five-yard run to give him six rushing touchdowns on the season. It was his second straight multiple-touchdown effort after racking up three touchdowns last week at Fresno State.

North Dakota has earned three of the first four weekly offensive honors after fellow running back Mitch Sutton (Plover, Wis.) earned the initial honor after week one play.

The Fighting Sioux open GWC play this Saturday on the road at defending league champion Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds had this week's GWC Defensive Player of the Week, Blake Fenn; and Special Teams Player of the Week, Colton Cooks; honorees.
